Visiting the State Capital, the "Hill"

YEEHAAA Visits Utah Capital, the "Hill"
Utah Nonprofit Association had their first visit to the Utah State Capital during the House and Senate session. Many nonprofit organizations from Utah were invited. Our purpose was to meet state representatives to let them know what our organization is about, our passions, concerns and how they can be our voice to help communities.
YEEHAAA was the first to arrive hoping to get a nearby receptacle at the rotunda. We found one to complete our presentation table as others commented they wished they had. With plenty of brochures, business cards and our "DVD" we were ready to go.
Our first adventure to be assigned a captain, “Jaycee” is a vibrant spitfire who talked about the love of Notre Dame and Catholic school, her wonderful comments and energy was unmatched, a comedian who made you laugh without a boring moment. There was no denying it, Jaycee loves her job. Thanks for all your help and YEEHAAA will never forget the great time we had in your presents Jaycee. Jaycee's who is small in stature and vociferous vocals addressed the tasks at hand said, “I don’t need a microphone with these lungs,” as she pounded her chest standing next to the podium with her beautiful brown fashion boots and Scottish style clothing. She knew everyone and everything there was to know. If she didn’t, she found the answer quicker than running up the marble stairs at the capital. We had a wonderful time as Jaycee explained about the people in “green coats” and “blue coats.” Keeping with tradition, for the House of Representative people with green coats help transmit information to the representatives. YEEHAAA met Jennifer Seelig for the House. Next, the Senate as we followed Jaycee up stairs we met the blue coats who delivered our messages to Luz Robles.
All in all YEEHAAA had a good time meeting new friends and to work with legislators in the future. The success on the “Hill” will bring us closer to working with youth, families and our community.
